F.O.C.U.S.

HITOYA,

Over the days I have been asked a number of times by many students that we are scared about this uncertainty and clueless about what to do. I know this crisis is so sudden and beyond imagination. We in our lifetime haven’t faced it so it is a first time for us also.

But on reflecting I feel we just need to use a simple F.O.C.U.S. technique.

.F. FIGHT against the negative thought process. Being bombarded with information which paints a scary picture is unavoidable, but being rational humans we need to understand that there is possibility of prevention being better than cure. Take up your responsibility seriously, stay at home. That is the most you can do at present. If there is an emergency need of going out take all possible precautions. Actually, like the song said, “Whatever shall be shall be, the future is not for us to see”. Live for the present and be grateful that you are not harmed in any way as yet. Just keep up your spirits and Hope for the best.

.O. OPPORTUNITIES have been thrown at us like never before, maybe not in the traditional ways we knew, so make the best out of what we can do. Maybe it is to do with opting for some online course, practicing earnestly on an area of interest or hobby, taking up a creative initiative, poems, plays, stories, artwork, embroidery, penning down ideas that keep popping out as dreams. There is no end to imaginative work. Try it.

.C. CHOICES are plenty to laze around, fall in depression, be frustrated, gossip about sad things endlessly about the worst scenario possible with ifs and buts, or or or just count your blessings of having a mobile phone, working internet connection, money to pay for your data, home, food, family, friends. Stop pondering about what you don’t have but make the best use of your time, which nowadays you have plenty of. Select options, those ones that are a mix of learning, honing up skills and entertainment surely, then prioritize as to all you can practically do. Choose the optimal ones and enjoy. Don’t get trapped in excellence or results or awards, do those ones that you always needed to say “Been there, Done that”. Have fun.

.U. UNITE in your approach to meet the challenges faced. Everything happening around us is new for everyone. So don’t hesitate to ask for help and at the same time help all. There is no harm if you take up more tasks as it is only making life easy for your loved ones. Understand that everyone is going through a stressful and anxiety induced time, but this small consideration on your part will be appreciated always. Learn to be open to mood swings, don’t waste time on grudges or blame playing. Relax, each one is doing their bit as and when the situation demands, and it’s best to do it together. Laugh and let go. Do everything with a smile, No frowns or a nasty word please.

.S. SEEK Solutions don’t add on to problems. Stop finding fault with things around you or beyond your control. Innovate, you are born intelligent. Every issue will eventually and essentially have an answer. It may be to your benefit that possibly in future it may be the beginning of your “Startup idea”, you never know. If you think you have a better solution make suggestions. Not everyone may think “out of the box” and in the same way, there are so many dimensions to a problem. Write them up and put them across for people to see. It is also good as it gives you perspective as to how you would have handled the situation or your possible approach if it comes in a different way. It will also be a help to others as it may be the solution they are seeking.

F.O.C.U.S. on ‘WHAT IS’, and not on what could have been, had been or should be.

‘This time too shall pass’ but we will come out of it stronger, better equipped and certainly more interesting with our newly acquired skill sets. Let’s call them our “MLM” degree “Masters in Lockdown Management” Degree and pass with Flying colors. So get into the START mode. Be busy.

Have a good time, enjoy. Stay blessed.

BE Good, Do Good
